Where is Kul IN?
Kul IN Language Academy is located in Sisak, Croatia, about 50km away from the capital city Zagreb. While the greenery of an old oak forest surrounds the school, we are well connected to both downtown Sisak and Zagreb with public transportation, including buses and trains. The nearest airport Pleso is 40km away in the direction of Zagreb.

What are the requirements for program admission?
Students must be at least 18 years of age, and must be at least level B1 by CEFR standards.
What are CEFR standards?
CEFR stands for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Level A1:
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people they know and things they have.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Level A2:
- Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- Can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Level B1:
- Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
- Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
- Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Level B2:
- Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
- Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
- Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Level C1:
- Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer clauses, and recognize implicit meaning.
- Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
- Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
- Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
Level C2:
- Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.
- Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation.
- Can express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.
What will I learn during the program?
Our English program is built to teach students English vocabulary and grammar, and to then give them the opportunity to practice their skills through interactive activities. The weekly class schedule consists of:
- group vocabulary and grammar lessons (reading and writing)
- group interactive practice sessions (speaking and listening)
- groups activities and projects
- class field trips where students will need to speak English with the local population
- one-on-one personalized tutoring
- TOEFL or CAE exam preparation
What is the ratio of theory to practice in the classroom?
Our programs have a strong focus on interactive learning activities and field trips. Students will spend approximately 5 hours each day in the classroom, and the rest of the day will be dedicated to various activities where students will need to apply their English skills.
How important is it to come to class?
Our programs are very dynamic and intensive, so it is of utmost importance that students do not skip class so that they can pass their exams at the end of the course.
Do I need to know English to apply?
Yes, The minimum CEFR English language level for applying students is B1. All English courses are taught in English only.
How many students can apply to a program?
Each program can take a maximum of 12 students.
What kind of diploma will I receive after completing Kul IN Language Academy?
You will receive a Kul IN certificate of course completion. If you are enrolling in an exam preparation course, you will also have the opportunity to pass the TOEFL or a Cambridge exam while you are in Croatia.
Will I be able to find a job after completing one of Kul IN’s programs?
Kul IN’s lecturers constantly follow students’ progress, and students who show outstanding work are encouraged to ask for recommendations when applying to jobs requiring knowledge of the English language. We cannot guarantee our students employment, but we will do our part to help out students achieve their goals.
Can tuition be paid in multiple installments?
Tuition and fees can be paid in two or three installments, depending on the student’s choice.
What is included in the price of tuition?
Tuition at Kul IN includes:
- Instruction for the chosen program
- Study materials
- Accommodation
- Lunch, Monday through Friday
- Activities and full-day field trips
- Transportation to and from the airport
Is accommodation included in the price of tuition?
The price of tuition includes accommodation for all our students. Dormitories are located ten minutes walking distance from the school. Apartments are completely furnished and have wireless internet.
If the student has personal accommodation not connected to the school, will the cost of accommodation through the school be returned to the student?
Students who do not need housing while studying in Sisak do not need to pay for housing. Tuition will be lowered in the amount of housing costs.
What materials do I need to bring to class?
Students need to bring a laptop, a notebook, and a pencil to take notes during lectures. All other literature and materials are provided by Kul IN. Professors will tell students in advance if students need to bring specific clothing for projects and activities.
Can I apply for a program if I am not a Croatian citizen?
Programs are open to all foreign students. All classes are taught in English. In order to ensure that students can follow lessons in English, they must first pass an English Language test with a minimum CEFR level of B1.
Which documents do international students need in order to apply for a Kul IN program?
International students need to check in advance if they need a visa to enter the European Union, and must have a valid passport. We strongly advise that students make sure the expiration date for their passport is at least 3 months after their planned return date.
When can I visit the school?
Culinary Institute Kul IN is happy to give you a tour of the school. You can visit our school at any time of the year. We also organize campus visits several times a year, where visitors have a chance to meet alumni and ask about their experiences while studying.
